WE'RE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!!!

Hearing these words shrieked at top volume by my six-year-old as she ran to tackle me in a hug made 6-7 months of planning a surprise trip to Disney SOOOOO worth it!  We kept it a secret from both kids until the day before we left, and even then, they had to sort of figure out the surprise!  The night before our plane left for Florida, I made a cake that looked like Mickey Mouse.  Here it is.

We had told the kids we'd do something fun over Spring Break, and my daughter was convinced it was going to be a milkshake at a local restaurant that makes amazing milkshakes!  So, we had them read the cake.  They did, and said, "What does that mean???"

So, then they each had a card from some of their favorite characters (Mickey and the Princesses).  Inside the cards were some poems.  Here's my son's.  He read his first, and sister caught on about 1/2 way through.

Dear ________

Hey Buddy, Hey Pal!  It’s your good friend, Mickey!
Your parents have been up to something quite tricky!

Spring Break is now here,
So give a big cheer!!

Your plane leaves tomorrow to come to my house.
That’s right, Disneyworld!  Home to Me, Mickey Mouse!!

On Saturday morning, you’ll enter the gate,
Of my Magic Kingdom – none of us can wait!

It’s been quite a while since you were here last.
We can’t wait to hug you and watch you have a blast!

Love,

Mickey Mouse and Friends

My daughter's note followed.  Here it is.

Dear__________,

So we hear that, for you, it is time for Spring Break.
Dad & Mom tried to think of a good trip to take.

Dollywood’s open, and it’s fun, that’s true!
But Mom & Dad have something more fun planned for you!

Tomorrow at 4 a plane will depart,
And your magical Spring Break Adventure will start!

We only ask that, while you’re in our city,
You come pose with us for a picture so pretty!

Your parents assure us
They’ll visit Akershus.

For breakfast on Monday, if you’re well and able,
We’ll even be saving your family a table!

Your bags are all packed, the plans are all made,
So we’ll see you very soon for a Disney parade!

The secret is out; You’ll be here on Saturday,
So give a big shout – Hip, Hip HOORAY!!!!

Love,

The Disney Princesses

Luckily, we were able to video all of this, and it was such a special time for us!  The kids got so excited, although it took our son a while to really understand what was going on.  We had, without their knowledge, been building up to this for months with "Friday Disney Movie Night" and various other Disney-themed activities.  That's not abnormal for us to do themes, so they never caught on.  Our week at Disney was truly magical, and we are already wishing to return someday!

Oh, by the way...we have a great travel agent who is employed by Disney and does a wonderful job booking vacations!!  Her name is Amy, and you can visit her here:  https://www.facebook.com/Amy.Pruitt.3D.Travel   I promise you'll be glad you talked to her!!
