VBS

There's excitement in the air!  It's hard to believe that VBS is only a few weeks away!   In the midst of getting ready for our door-knocking campaign at our congregation and with several weeks of church camp going on the past month, VBS seems to have slipped up on us this year!   Today I met with my co-teacher and we continued planning. She might be one of my favorite people to work with in VBS because we are very alike.  This is the first year we've been the only two in our grade, so we are having to work extra hard to get everything done!  We are both Type A personalities ALL the way, creative and big dreamers.  We like to transform our room into the setting of our week's theme and then to go overboard with visuals, etc. for the kids.  For some kids, this is their only exposure to God's word the whole year, and we want to make sure something sticks with them.  Even though our decorations are sometimes elaborate, they are generally thrifty, and our primary focus is always on the meat of the lessons Our material is a little sparse this year, so we are having to create a lot of new things for it, and we got to work today coming up with ideas.   Can I just tell you how excited I am?   VBS can be such a special time, and I love being part of it!  Stay tuned for updates, pictures, lesson plans, etc. over the next few weeks!  In the meantime, give some thought to how these stories can teach us about staying "on track" for God.  I know I've been able to make applications to my own life from studying these!  VBS isn't just for kids!!
