Not Alone

This past weekend, I was so blessed to be able to attend a retreat for sisters in Christ who homeschool.    It was a "retreat" in every sense of the word, and I am so thankful to have been a small part of something so amazing.

This homeschool-mama life can sometimes feel so lonely and isolating.   It can be so hard to find someone who "gets it" and can relate to the all-encompassing nature of this choice.    When the days get hard and the schoolwork gets harder, it can be so tempting to throw a  fit or throw in the towel and just yell "enough!"   And yet, we are not alone.    Our God who created us is with us at all times.  He chose US to be mama to our own children, and God's choices are always right and good and perfect.  Not only that, but as a sisterhood, we have each other to lean on, and this weekend was a tangible way to see and feel that connection we share.    God absolutely knew what He was doing when He created the church and allowed us the fellowship of other people who "get it."  People who "get" why we make the hard choices.  People who "get" the tears we shed over the lost among our friends and family.  People who "get" why we spend all day (and night) with our children in an effort to shape and mold them.   People who "get" why we do the hard things.   I am so so thankful for these people who "get" it.   

To my sisters who are reading this, thank you.  Thank you for your unconditional acceptance and friendship.  Thank you for forcing me to step out of my comfort zone and be vulnerable in our relationships.  Thank you for the hugs, words of encouragements, and sighs of understanding.   Thank you for your faithfulness to Him.   Thank you for schooling your children and for teaching them about Him and His kingdom.   Thank you for doing the hard things.   As Charlene said, y'all are heroines...to your children, to me, and no doubt to God.   I love you and am so blessed to be NOT alone in this journey.
