Mother-in-laws are the best!

Today, as with most days, I am so thankful for my mother-in-law!  I always hear such horror stories about mother-in-laws, but I have been blessed with a fabulous one!  I am thankful for the son she raised to be an amazing Christian leader of our home, I am thankful for all her "from scratch" recipes and canning suggestions, I am thankful for how she took me in from the very beginning as the daughter she never had, and today, especially, I am thankful for how much she loves her grandbabies!

Today is my daughter's big 2nd grade field trip.  At first parents weren't allowed to come, but yesterday, at the last minute, they changed their minds and invited us.  So, she came out of school yesterday SOOOOO excited that Mommy could come!  I had other plans, but I rearranged them so I could be with her, and we all went to bed last night happy and excited.

At 2:15 this morning I heard a noise in the kids' bathroom, so I got up to check on whoever was up.  There, I found my poor little one on his knees with his head in the toilet because he had come down with his 2nd stomach virus in 10 days.   He was a very sick little boy.  My first thought after "oh, poor boy," was "Oh no!  My daughter will be sooooo disappointed!"  My son went back to sleep and slept a few hours, so I thought maybe it would be minor and we could work something out.  No such luck.  When he did wake back up, he was very sick and still is.  So, I had to wake my sweet girl up and tell her I couldn't come.

She was devastated.  Yet, she was so brave and just let little tears run down her cheeks as she called Daddy (as she always does) to chat while she got ready.  When she hung up, she sat up straight and said, "What about Nana?  Or Grandma??  COuld they come?!?!"  I nixed Nana as a choice because she helps take care of her mom, GrandNorma, who is 88 and can't afford to have the bug.  Hopefully, she asked again about Grandma, who lives 90 minutes away.  I told her she could try.  So, at 6:45 this morning, she called her Grandma, who quickly agreed and started getting ready.   Grandma to the rescue!  She saved what could have been a disastrous morning.   So thankful for her today!
